Pillaton Hall Farm is delighted to welcome you to our open water swimming venue. To make this experience safe and enjoyable we ask that you read and adhere to the following terms and conditions:

  • All swimmers entering the water at Pillaton Hall Farm do so at their own risk. Please ensure that you fully understand the dangers associated with swimming in open water, with the potential for personal injury and property loss.
  • Swimmers must not get in the pool until a member of staff authorises them to. They must enter safely and adhere to the specific swimming session times; and exit the water when asked to. Swimmers are to follow all rules and instructions from Pillaton Hall Farm and its staff members.
  • All swimmers must wear their individual NOWCA wristbands and use them to register themselves in and out of the water by scanning their wristband on entry and exit.
  • All swimmers must bring their own tow float and ensure that it is attached to them when in the water.
  • Wetsuits are strongly recommended when the water temperature is below 22 degrees as they give you warmth and buoyancy.
  • Bright swimming headwear must be worn; this will make you more visible when in the water.
  • Goggles are recommended; though not compulsory. Neoprene gloves and socks are permitted to be worn.
  • It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that their kit is suitable and safe for purpose.
  • Swimmers must enter and exit the water at the specified place and stay within the designated swim route; unless instructed otherwise by a member of staff.
  • Our water is 100 metres x 25 metres; buoyancy aids are essential as you need to be able to float on the surface until our lifeguard reaches you in the event of an emergency.
  • Swimming is clockwise round the course, do not obstruct or interfere with other swimmers.
  • All participants must be able to swim unaided for 25 metres (1 length of a standard indoor pool).
  • All swimmers must be physically and mentally fit and have no pre-existing medical conditions that would affect them swimming in open water.
  • You must not swim if you have any known medical conditions that would make open water swimming unsafe for you.
  • You must not swim if you are feeling unwell. If a swimmer becomes unwell during a session; they must leave the water immediately and inform a member of staff.
