Pillaton Hall Farm is home to three well-stocked coarse fishing pools

Pillaton Hall Farm is home to three well-stocked coarse fishing pools, all enjoying far reaching views over Cannock Chase. Built by the Pearce family in the late 1990’s the pools have been regularly stocked with good quality fish, sourced from some of the oldest lakes in the UK.

The pools are now closed and will reopen on Monday 23rd March 2026.

The Fishing Pools

The pools are all stocked with a variety of species ranging from 1 inch skimmer bream to 26lb monster carp.

All persons fishing must have at least two years fishing experience and must hold a valid rod licence. Each person fishing will need their own unhooking mat and landing net; sharing is not permitted. Read our Fishing Rules for more details

Our fishing pools are accessible via purpose-built pathways and fishing platforms.

Our location draws people from across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and the West Midlands.

While each of the established coarse fishing pools are well-stocked with species that include Bream, Carp, Roach, Crucian Carp, Eel, Golden Orfe, Mirror Carp, Perch, Rudd and Tench, they each have their own distinct character:

Book Fishing

POOL 1 – THE DIP

The Dip is the largest pool on the site but is also the most open to the elements – so remember to pack some warm clothes for a windy and cold day. Located at the far end of the site the pool has an island in the middle, making it an ideal pool on which to use a feeder. Around the margins the waters are shallow; running from 1ft gradually falling away to 9 or 10 ft around the island, making it a safer option for children as the margins are shallower than the others.

POOL 2 – THE MARL PIT

The smallest pool on the site is The Marl Pit which, while used as a stock pool, also has a good range of larger fish and is the only pool at present to hold ghost carp. The deepest point is in the centre at 6ft with depths of about 3ft around its margins. This is a nice pool for hot days as you have some tree cover on one side, offering welcome shade.

POOL 3 – THE CHASE VIEW POOL

If you fancy a quiet afternoon’s fishing and don’t mind a 5 minute walk, then park on The Dip car park and follow the signs. This pool is only a few years old but has come on extremely well – as it is a little further from the car park it gets fished less often and the fish are in fantastic condition. The end closest to the gate has a sunken island 2ft below the surface dropping around the sides of the island to about 8ft, which is the average depth of the pool.

DAY TICKETS

The cost of a day ticket is £10.00 per person.

Day tickets are available Monday to Thursday and must be booked 24 hours in advance (not including Bank Holidays).

Day tickets are for over 18’s only.

Fishing is from 8.00am and you must leave the site no later than 7.00pm.

Only people fishing are permitted on a fishing day ticket; spectators are not allowed.

Each person fishing will need a valid rod licence, an individual unhooking mat and landing net.

You will have access to the toilet facilities.

Dotties Café Bar & Takeaway is available for all your food and drink requirements – please check the opening times.

FISHING FOR OUR CAMPERS

Included in the price of each pitch is one fishing wristband that is valid for your entire stay. This must be used by one person staying on your pitch and cannot be shared.

Additional wristbands for adults and children can be purchased at check in:

£5.00 – One Day Wristband – for adults and children (up to 2 rods)
£2.00 – Extra rod

Please note that children are only permitted to fish if they are staying on the campsite and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If your child is independently fishing they must have their own unhooking mat, landing net and licence (if applicable) and a wristband will need to be purchased.

Been here afew time’s now and cannot folt this place Staff are so nice..the hole place is spotless and well looked after! They drive round the grounds all day & into the night to make sure noone been a pain! Such as Load music or load groups! Great play area’s for kids! Private field for your dogs Great fishing area’s! We camp alot and this one is one of the best we have stayed at. Thanks for a lovely holiday pillaton farm! We will be back again!

Camping Stayed for a long weekend.
Cannot fault the site pitch number 195.
Very close to dotties cafe and two of the fishing pools.
Plenty of very good size fish being caught on both pools.
Staff were excellent and the whole site is clean and well maintained would I go back absolutely yes

THE BEST campsite 🏕 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Campsite!

We had an absolutely amazing stay and honestly couldn’t fault the place! The campsite was so clean and tidy, with staff around all the time if you needed any help. The toilets were cleaned and mopped regularly throughout the day, which made such a difference — everything was always spotless.

There was so much for the kids to do. They absolutely loved the huge bouncy pillow, and there was entertainment on the Saturday too. There are two huge parks, two zip lines, a gold-digging creek, a bike-riding area and two fishing ponds, so there really is something for everyone.

My three boys, aged 10, 12 and 14, all absolutely loved it and said it was their favourite campsite ever! ❤️ We also had a brilliant time paddleboarding, which was so much fun.

The on-site shop was fantastic too, with really good prices and everything you could need, which was so convenient.

We also had breakfast and drinks at Dottie's, which were absolutely amazing — definitely worth a visit! ☕️🥓

Overall, we had such a fantastic time and made some lovely memories as a family. It’s honestly one of the best campsites we’ve stayed at, and we can’t wait to come back again in the future!

Our Happy Place – Six Visits in Five Years! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was our sixth visit to Pillaton Hall Farm in five years. We first came when our boys were only six and seven, and they are now eleven and twelve. They still ask to return every year, which really says everything about how much we love it here. The whole site is clean, spacious and very well looked after. The facilities are excellent, with plenty of washing-up sinks and hot running water. The showers are immaculate and cleaned regularly, which makes such a difference when camping as a family. Occasionally, children leave toilet roll on the floor, but that is not the campsite’s fault. The cleaners are always quick to sort it out. Parents should take responsibility and encourage their children to respect the facilities and practise good toilet habits. There is so much safe, open space for children to enjoy. Our boys love the huge bouncing pillows, the different parks and play areas, the bike track, the fishing lakes and the brilliant activity lake. It gives them the freedom to have fun, explore and make friends while still feeling like a safe and well-run site. The fishing is another huge highlight for us. The lakes are peaceful and beautifully surrounded by reeds, wildlife and countryside views. Catching fish here has created some really special family memories. We also love staying on the back field behind Dottie’s. The views are beautiful and the sunsets are absolutely amazing. Sitting outside the tent at the end of the day and watching the sky change colour is one of our favourite parts of being here. The food from Dottie’s is lovely, generously portioned and always served with a smile. The staff across the site are friendly, helpful and work hard to keep everything running smoothly. There are rules, but we honestly see that as a good thing. They help keep such a large and popular site safe, clean, organised and enjoyable for everyone. We love that there is enough to keep children busy while still allowing them to enjoy nature instead of constantly relying on technology. Children may occasionally say they are bored, but that gives them the chance to discover how much fun the great outdoors can be. Bikes are a great thing to bring too, as the wide paths and open spaces give children plenty of room to explore. Pillaton Hall Farm genuinely makes us so happy as a family. It has become part of our boys’ childhood and has given us years of laughter, fishing, bike rides, adventures, beautiful sunsets and precious memories together. They ask to come back time and time again. In our experience, Pillaton Hall Farm does not deserve some of the negative reviews it receives. TripAdvisor can sometimes become an outlet for complaints, but it is also important to take the time to share positive experiences. We would recommend ignoring the overly negative reviews and experiencing this wonderful place for yourself. We believe the price is fair considering the size of the site, the range of activities and the clean facilities, including hot running water for washing up, which is not always available at other campsites. We already cannot wait for visit number seven. It truly is our family’s happy place and has created so many wonderful memories for our children. It is a site where you can pitch your tent, relax and enjoy being together. Even if it rains, there are still things to do. The great outdoors is a wonderful place. Keep it simple and give children that unique sense of freedom and adventure that can sometimes be lost in the modern world. One final thing: the little shop is a bit of a walk up the path, but it is an enjoyable stroll and part of the camping experience! We absolutely love it here and cannot wait to return. ❤️🏕️🎣🚲🌅

Fantastic camping site Fantastic camp site with everything for family and friends, to start off with special mention to Sophie who works on reception so helpful on our bookings due to us visiting the site 3 times this year. Sophie has gone above and beyond to sort our bookings out this year. On arrival we handed her a nice bottle of bubbles to say thanks will see you again soon Sophie . The toilets where gorgeous posh clean and if you are camping and using wash room after breakfast there's a nice TV whilst washing up. The lads enjoyed fishing on site and that was easter time. We missed out on entertainment this time gutted as no small dogs allowed as we was with our friends dog but we enjoyed our time here. Will be booking the water sports in july this time can't wait . Special mention to Diane too works hard behind the Dotties cafe too see you all soon xx
